Brown on white

Some midweek visual pleasures here from a light-filled home captured by Anna Kern

{Looking at that fireplace especially at this time of year is suddenly creating a bout of
"I want, I need, I want"
ringing inside my head, hmm...
Thankfully there are other ways to keep warm,
like a long soak in the bath, grey woolly socks, church candles,
and fennel&marshmallow root tea
- a recipe that worked a treat tonight.}

I just love the look of dark wood against a white backdrop! This is beautiful especially because of the not-too-precious look. Have a lovely evening xo

I was longing for some just plain wood furniture, and Voilà! The fireplace is, indeed, a focus point of my vision and dreams for the time being. I was wondering about that large crucifix hanging from a coat-hanger. Quite an unusual place, there may have a significance, or just an aesthetic one. Charming house.

After a couple of soggy days, this Thursday the weather is sunny but crisp-crisp.
Love,
Doina

I so agree,
an all-white background has the danger of looking,
well, too white,
but with these worn browns and fireplace that's so invitingly a little crooked around the edges,
it all looks just right!

Wow indeed :)

Cathy, we go back a loooong time,
so this was extra touching to hear.
Thank you for the encouraging words, x

No soak tonight,
but the church candles are still doing their trick
(oh and a glass of red wine :) )

Anna Kern is a name that's stuck with me,
I'm sure she's never photographed a boring and sterile looking house :)

Love it all, too
(but especially, especially that fireplace... )

I wish I knew a little more about the place,
definitely has a Swedish-Danishy feel.

Yes, not sure how much here is a product of styling versus the real thing
(as regards the crucifix).
Crisp-crisp here, too, with a nice bit of sunshine today!
A fireplace like that, one day!

P.S. I was a little shocked as I noticed that the word 'Love' at the end of this post looked rather lovely& curly on my mac,
but was screaming in big ugly letters when I looked at this post on a PC earlier on today, sorry, no harm intended :)
